Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero 1998 N/R, 70 min. Genre: Animation / Action / Sci-Fi aka: Batman & Mr. Freeze SubZero
Director: Boyd Kirkland Cast: Kevin Conroy, Michael Ansara, Loren Lester, Efrem Zimbalist Jr., George Dzundza, Robert Costanzo, Bob Hastings, Mary Kay Bergman, Marilu Henner, Dean Jones, Jane Alan, Liane Schirmer, Tress MacNeille, Brian George, Ed Gilbert
This is a direct-to-video, animated version of Batman. Mr. Freeze (voice of Michael Ansara) is living at the Arctic Circle with his wife Nora who is cryogenically frozen while awaiting a heart transplant. When a submarine crashes the ice around Freeze's cave home, the seal of Nora's cryo-chamber is broken, and an organ transplant is needed immediately. Freeze's solution: abduct Batgirl (voice of Mary Kay Bergman) whose blood type matches Nora's. This act, of course, leads to Batman (voice of Kevin Conroy) and Robin (voice of Loren Lester) setting out to rescue Batgirl. The animation is good; the plot is filled with violence. So, IF children are not frightened by violence, this is a good film for those old enough to understand the moral lessons behind the story.

Thumbelina 1994 G, 86 min. Genre: Animation / Family / Drama / Fantasy
Director: Don Bluth, Gary Goldman Cast: Jodi Benson, Carol Channing, Gary Imhoff, Charo, Gino Conforti, John Hurt, Kenneth Mars, Gilbert Gottfried, Will Ryan, June Foray, Barbara Cook, Joe Lynch, Danny Mann, Loren Lester, Tawny Sunshine Glover
This version of Hans Christian Anderson's tale of the tiny Tumbelina (voice of Jodi Benson) is cleverly put together as our little heroine avoids many dangers. The voices of the cartoon characters are good, and Barry Manilow's music is a strength. 1 User Review
