Bobby Fine (Ryan O'Neal) is a college professor whose father Jack (Jack Warden) owns a NYC garment business. Jack owes money to loan shark Eddie (Richard Kiel) and is forced to give up the business to him. Bobby is part of the deal and suggests that they introduce see-through jeans after he had split his jeans. Now, the public loves the see-through jeans, and money rolls in. Meanwhile, Bobby starts dating Lira (Mariangela Melato), who happens to be Eddie's wife, and even more problems lie ahead.
