Helen Hayes won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar; nominations included Best Picture and Supporting Actress (Maureen Stapleton).

They begin performing for Davis and employ sultry Kay (Betty Field) as their singer–and, too late, learn how mobster's moll Kay can tear the band apart.

Brick's roommate Eddie (Regis Toomey) becomes an F.B.I. agent but is later killed by gangster Danny Leggett (Edward Pawley) in a gang shooting. Now, Brick joins the F.B.I. as an agent where he is looked upon with suspicion because of his background ties to McKay. Nevertheless, Brick sets out to avenge the death of Eddie and follows a trail of murders that extends from New York to the Midwest. Based on Gregory Miller's book "Public Enemy No. 1."

Meanwhile, Hannah's other sister Holly (Dianne Wiest) has connected with Hannah's ex-husband Mickey (Woody Allen) who fears he has a brain tumor and is obsessed with death. And the trials and triumphs go on and on–from one Thanksgiving Day to another. Oscars were won by Allen (Best Screenplay), Caine (Best Supporting Actor), and Wiest (Best Supporting Actress). The film also received four other nominations, including Best Picture and Director.

  Based on a Damon Runyan story, this is the remake of the 1934 film about a reformed gangster, The Lemon Drop Kid (Bob Hope). The Kid accidentally gives gangster Moose Moran (Fred Clark) a bad tip on a race. Now Moran tells The Kid that he must come up with $10,000 to make up for what he would have won. The Kid sets up a fake charity–after all, it is Christmas–and begins to raise the needed funds. This is the film that introduced Ray Evans and Jay Livingston's Christmas ballad, "Silver Bells."

Wells loses interest in Susan, but Hoyt is still smitten. Will Susan marry Hoyt and live happily ever after?
