In 1938, a mild-mannered American journalist, Varian Fry (William Hurt), observed the horrible treatment of the Jews by the Nazi regime in Germany. He not only tried to warn the world of the Jewish plight but started smuggling Jews, especially artists and writers, out of Europe. In all, over 2,000 Jews were relocated. This is his story.
