  The labor dispute in a local hospital is the subject of this heavy satire in which the Queen's visit threatens to become a nightmare when workers refuse to do their appointed jobs. And adding to the confusion is reporter Mick Travis (Malcolm McDowell) who is shooting a documentary on the hospital.

  This is an inspiring story based on the 1924 Olympic games. Two British runners Harold Abrahams and Sam Mussabini (Ben Cross and Ian Holm) practice their sport while working out personal concerns with anti-Semitism and Christian missionary work, respectively. The film won Academy Awards for Best Picture, Writing, Costume Design, and Musical Score. Nominations were received for Best Supporting Actor (Holm) and Director.

Their three sons–Steven, Andrew, and Colin (Brian Cox, Alan Bates, and James Bolam) have done well in life, at least better than most in this town, but the relationships of the brothers become strained during the visit.

Alan Price adds to the fast-paced story with several songs that reflect Mick's rise and fall: "Someone has to win in the human race, if it isn't you, then it has to be me."

  This made-for-TV film provides an account of the French "Dreyfus Affair" in the last decade of the 19th century. Captain Alfred Dreyfus (Kenneth Colley) was court-martialed and sent to Devil's Island for espionage. Colonel Picquart (Richard Dreyfuss) was assigned the task of justifying the sentence; but, instead, he uncovered the fact that the Jewish Dreyfus was a scapegoat for a General Staff member. Picquart's efforts ruined his career but resulted in the release of Dreyfus.

All goes well for a short time, but when Mrs. Hammond grows tired of Frank, their doomed romance leads to tragedy.
