"Eventualism" is a scientology cult, and its members include Fletcher Munson (Steven Soderbergh) and the leader, T. Azimuth Schwitters (Mike Malone). The story becomes a play on words in which characters have unique ways of describing things. Soderbergh also plays a dentist, Dr. Jeffrey Korchek, who is having an affair with Fletcher Munson's wife.
