Edward (Robert Hardy) is the former director of a mental hospital who inherits a house where multiple murders occurred. Believing there is a treasure in gold hidden inside the house, Edward enters the old house determined to find the gold. But, he is not alone in his quest; Dr. Mandeville (Christopher Lee), his sister Sarah (Joan Collins), and the estate's lawyer Prescott (Herbert Lom) also appear on the scene to claim the treasure for themselves. There is one little problem: the house is rumored to be haunted, and Edward now appears to be possessed by the evil spirit of the original owner and will stop at nothing to get the treasure for himself.
