Along with them on the island are the monster Caliban (Richard Burton) and the airy sprite Ariel (Roddy McDowall). Prospero is a sorcerer, and he conjures up a tempest at sea that causes the wreck of the ship on which members of his family are passengers. As the family roams the island, Miranda and Prince Ferdinand (Ronald Radd) meet and fall in love. Ariel tells Prospero's family that their evilness led to Prospero causing the shipwreck. Forgiveness solves the problem, and Prospero is restored to his throne. The great cast and interesting costumes make it worthwhile watching.
