Ex-Merchant Marine Dave MacDougall (George Nader) is the Executive Officer on the attack transport U.S.S Belinda on which Capt. Hawks trains his men and pretends to be a self-centered snob so that they will direct their frustrations at him instead of each other. MacDougall, however, sees what is going on and gives the sailors clues so that they will respect Hawks. The crew pulls together and manages to survive many Japanese attacks. Look fast for Clint Eastwood as a medic near the end of the film.

McIntyre's commanding officer is replaced by Col. von Webber (Berry Kroeger) who tries to exterminate the Indians with small pox infested blankets. But, finally, peace is restored–at least for the time being.

Then, Loder is killed, and Jesper travels to Italy where he links up with resistance fighters Pinkie and Gina (Robert Alda and Lilli Palmer). He does meet with Polda and learns about the Nazi plans to build an atomic bomb. Meanwhile, he falls in love with Gina, but now must find a way to escape from the Nazis.
