Teenage hot-rodder Johnny Varron (Jack Nicholson) is a dirt track driver who spends his spare time partying and finding trouble–including killing policemen by running them off the road. He kidnaps his best friend Dave's (Robert Bean) girlfriend Nancy (Georgianna Carter). But Dave rescues her, and Johnny and Dave set off on a high-speed chase that ends with Dave's death and Johnny, at last, being hauled off by the police.
