This over-long, coming-of-age, soapy film follows an Atlanta family through love and tragedy. The girls' lives change drastically when Mama announces that she is going to marry a man, Nick (Scott Bakula), whom they had not met. This doesn't go over well with the girls, especially Tilden, but that becomes less important when Mama finds out she has cancer.
