  In this Zane Grey tale, Nevada (Buster Crabbe) and his sidekick "Weary" (Syd Saylor) are in pursuit of Les Setter (Harvey Stephens) and his gang. Nevada finds Les, but the outlaw is clever and frames Nevada for rustling, and the ineffective sheriff (Chester Conklin) jails Nevada. By story's end, Nevada eventually gets his man–and also gets the lady (June Martel).

Tonto (Chief Thundercloud) finds one Ranger still alive, and the legend of the Lone Ranger is born. The twist comes when the outlaw boss believes that the Lone Ranger could be any one of five Rangers, so each one must be killed. After many adventures and some good cliff-hangers, the good guys win.
