Filmed as a mock documentary, Ray Joshua's (Saul Williams) story unfolds of a man incarcerated in a Washington, D.C. prison who finds himself in the middle of a tug-of-war between rival gangs. His escape is in writing poetry and eventually getting his life together. Inspired by Paul Devlin's "SlamNation," a documentary about poetry slams (competition) filmed earlier the same year.
