New Orleans police detectives Carson O'Conner and Michael Sloane (Parker Posey and Adam Goldberg) investigate a series of murders that lead them to the home of mad scientist Victor Helios (Thomas Kretschmann). Helios is the original Dr. Frankenstein and has kept himself alive these 200 years through genetic experiments. At first, the detectives suspect Helios' monster, Deucalion (Vincent Perez), but by story's end the villain turns out to be Helios.
