Boston architect Newton Davis (Steve Martin) builds a dream home for Becky (Dana Delany), but she turns him down when he proposes marriage to her. The idea sounds good to Newton who goes along with the idea as the means to make Becky jealous. The lies begin to multiply until even the neighbors are brought into the scheme.
