Sara Campbell's (Virginia Madsen) son Matt (Kyle Gallner) has cancer, and she convinces her husband Peter (Martin Donovan) to purchase a home close to the hospital in order to save Matt the long drives to and from the hospital for treatments. The house is a former funeral parlor, and, as soon as the Campbells move in, Matt starts having visions of a young boy and an evil mortician. Matt meets fellow cancer patient Reverend Popescu (Elias Koteas), and, believing that the house is haunted, the Campbells ask Popescu to exorcise the house. Will he succeed, or will the terrors become even worse?
