When an alien orb appears in Manhattan, Helen steps in to offer the U.S. government advice on how to deal with its inhabitant, eco-friendly Klaatu (Keanu Reeves). Secretary of State Regina Jackson (Kathy Bates) is very suspicious of eco-friendly Klaatu, but Helen helps Klaatu escape, and she and Jacob take off with Klaatu and try to convince him to spare humans on the planet Earth from destruction.

While watching a softball game on their Saudi Arabian compound, American men, women, and children are gunned down leaving more than 100 dead. But, they are given only five days to perform their investigation and help find the criminal responsible for the attack.
