When she refuses to reveal her source, U.S. District Court Judge Hall (Floyd Abrams) throws Rachel into jail for contempt of court, and her legal struggles begin as U.S. attorney Patton Dubois (Matt Dillon) pressures her to reveal her source. Rachel's attorney, Albert Burnside (Alan Alda), cites her First Amendment rights as he pleads her case.
