Nanny McPhee's (Emma Thompson) special powers are just what Cedric Brown (Colin Firth) needs. His wife has died, his seven children are uncontrollable brats, and his wife's Aunt Adelaide (Angela Lansbury) has given the ultimatum: find a new wife before month's end or she will stop the needed financial assistance. In the nick of time, Nanny McPhee appears at the door and attempts to bring order to the household.

Jackie O'Shea (Ian Bannen) and Michael O'Sullivan (David Kelly) are old friends who play the lotto and ride their motorbike around their village of Tullymore, Ireland. When one of their townsmen wins the lotto, his name remains anonymous. So, Jackie and Michael decide to find out who the winner really is. When the trail leads to Ned Devine whose only reason for anonymity is that he dropped dead on hearing his good news, they try to collect the winnings.
