Richard Gere plays the title role of King David. Shepherd boy David defeats the giant Goliath (George Eastman) and brings an end to the war with the Philistines. Now, David has incurred the wrath of jealous Saul (Edward Woodward), but Samuel (Denis Quillley) anoints David and names him as his heir.
