Based on Harold Robbins' novel, "A Stone for Danny Fisher," this story is set in New Orleans. Aspiring young singer Danny Fisher (Elvis Presley) is a delinquent and high-school dropout who becomes involved with a ruthless gangster (Walter Matthau) and his alcoholic moll (Carolyn Jones). Will Danny figure out how to escape a life of crime, find employment as a singer, and gain the love of Nellie (Dolores Hart)? Many good Elvis songs include "Hard Headed Woman."
