Now, Sarah must contend with the humiliation of her questionable past being paraded in a courtroom. Powerful and moving.

This film excels at depicting the effects of blindness: When Virgil first sees following the operation, he cries, "There is something wrong. This can't be seeing...Give me something in my hands." It shows how a person can love another based on who they really are. It's like reading a book then watching a movie. Somehow the book was better because you are forced to imagine. And your imagination is better than a hollywood director. Anyway, I thought it was touching and moving and explained a lot about the human condition. We are all prejudice in one way or another, based on very little. |

Ruth is sold to the Yankees and brings his wife Helen (Trini Alvarado) to the city, but their marriage breaks up soon after. Ruth's second wife is Ziegfeld showgirl Claire Hodgeson (Kelly McGillis), and life becomes fun–for awhile. This script also objectively relates the ups and downs of Ruth's career. The on-field play is enhanced by use of good old Danville (Illinois) Stadium.
