Lyle Maze (Rob Morrow), a New York artist suffering from Tourette Syndrome, has only two good friends–Callie (Laura Linney) and Mike (Craig Sheffer). When Mike takes off for seven months to serve in the Doctors Without Borders organization, Callie, pregnant with Mike's child, is left behind. Maze steps in, becomes Callie's birthing coach, and falls in love with her.
