Young Charlie (Josh Hutcherson) has just moved to Cleveland with his parents (Kate Jackson and Ted Shackelford) when Charlie finds "Annie," a thee-legged Springer Spaniel that has just had puppies. With help from the janitor (Stacy Keach), Charlie hides Annie and the puppies in the hospital where his parents work. But it doesn't take long for the dogs to start wandering around the hospital, and, miraculously, after encounters with the dogs, patients begin to heal. Of course, hospital rules do not allow dogs in patients' rooms, problems ensue, and the dogs are sent to an animal shelter. Now, a wealthy patient (Rue McClanahan) realizes that the dogs have cured her illness, and she ensures that the dogs are rescued, and new homes are found.

Jamie Bartlett (Kay Panabaker) is just a normal girl in a normal school. Jamie seems happy with her life, but if you take a look inside her private journal, you see her personal thoughts on the school and the people in it. In this journal, Jamie portrays herself as Isabella (Danielle Panabaker) who handles easily high school and the dreadful "populars," led by Myrna (Allison Scagliotti). All of the people in Jamie's life are included in this book, and Jamie is horrified to realize that part of this journal was accidentally turned in as a homework assignment. When her "essay" wins a contest, it is turned into a book and becomes a bestseller. Jamie is thrown into a life of fame and popularity. She has new friends, fans, and the cutest boy in school. But now Jamie has to decide whether being a bestselling author is worth losing her best friends. (Review by LW)
