This Christmas, they are at the airport ready to leave on vacation when fog rolls in, and all planes are grounded. What do they do? They visit their respective families at four different homes. First, there is Brad's grumpy father Howard (Robert Duvall), and then it's on to Kate's WASPish mother Marilyn's home. Next, Brad's mom Paula (Sissy Spacek), who is dating Brad's boyhood friend, is visited. Finally, they drop by Kate's father Creighton's (Jon Voight) place, which turns out to be the closest to "normal." When all is said and done, Kate and Brad's "Four Christmases" prove to be more than a little unusual.
