Director: Andrew Stanton Cast: Ben Burtt, Elissa Knight, Jeff Garlin, Fred Willard, John Ratzenberger, Kathy Najimy, Sigourney Weaver
It is 2700 A.D., and Earth has been abandoned because it is hopelessly polluted. Earthlings long ago boarded a huge star ship, the Axiom, and are floating around in space waiting to come back to a clean Earth. Meanwhile, trash-compacting androids, the WALL-Es–Waste Allocation Load Lifters-Earth Class–have spent seven centuries cleaning Earth, and now only one WALL-E (voice of Ben Burtt) is still functioning and continuing to clean things up. One day, Axiom deposits a robot (voice of Elissa Knight) EVE–(Extra-terrestrial Vegetation Evaluator)–on Earth. WALL-E falls in love with EVE, but EVE realizes that WALL-E has uncovered a secret that could save Earth, and she races back to Axiom to report her findings. WALL-E follows her in what turns out to be a fantastic voyage through space that ends aboard Axiom with its TV-addicted, slovenly occupants. This story teaches a lesson about mindless consumerism and eco-ignorance. The film won an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and received five additional nominations.
