  In the 1970s, a pompous, TV news anchorman, Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell), rules the roost in his San Diego newsroom–until station manager Ed Harken (Fred Willard) decides it's time for a change. He appoints ambitious Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate) as a new member of the news staff, and a battle of the sexes ensues in this good satire on the 1970s' lifestyles.

All is going well–until Don falls in love with Ben's daughter, Ivy (Jordana Spiro), and begins to lose his focus on the job he has been hired to perform.

Soon their entire family is drawn into a strange new world as the children dream about an intergalactic bridge that will connect Earth to a dying planet. Mentally challenged John Givings (Michael Shannon) appears to the only one to understand the Wheelers' problem. The film received three Academy Award nominations including Shannon for Best Supporting Actor.
