  This film does a good, though biased, job of relating people's emotions over the Vietnam War. It tells the story of U.S. Marine Corps Captain Bob Hyde (Bruce Dern) and his wife Sally's (Jane Fonda) affair with paraplegic war veteran Luke Martin (John Voight). Jane Fonda and Jon Voight won Academy Awards for Best Actress and Actor. An Oscar was also awarded for Best Screenplay, and five nominations were received, including Best Picture, Director, Supporting Actor (Dern) and Actress (Penelope Milford as Sally's troubled friend Vi).

When he meets Mary Tate Farnsworth (Sally Field) and Joe Santo (Arnold Schwarzenegger) at the gym, he finds depth to their lives of working and staying fit. This causes him to leave his wealthy friends behind and finds a new life through physical work. An OK comedy/drama.
