He promotes violent efforts by the police against the Bronx citizens, and Murphy tries to convince his superiors that police violence will not solve the problems. After fellow police officer Morgan (Danny Aiello) kills a street kid, Murphy and the other officers are told to ignore the brutal act. Murphy cannot abide by the directive and, as a result, becomes an outcast on the police force. This story is based on true experiences.
