In this animated film, Penny (voice of Miley Cyrus) and her cute dog Bolt (voice of John Travolta) are stars on a TV show, and Bolt is unaware that his amazing feats are only part of his TV performance. When Bolt is shipped accidentally from his TV sound stage in Hollywood to New York City, Bolt sets off on a cross-country trip, planning to use what he mistakenly believes are his super powers, to get back to Penny. Along the way, Bolt is joined by a cat, Mittens (voice of Susie Essman), and TV-obsessed hamster Rhino (voice of Mark Walton) and manages to make the trek through the real world. The film received an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Feature.

This animated adventure is set in Victorian England during the Great Exhibition of 1851, which marked strides in the Industrial Revolution. Pre-teen Ray Steam (voice of Anna Paquin) tries to keep the contents of a package containing a "steam ball" from the clutches of the unscrupulous O'Hara Foundation with whom his father (voice of Alfred Molina) is involved. It is Ray's own grandfather (voice of Patrick Stewart) who has sent him the package and given him instructions to protect it. Now, Ray is in the middle of the battle between his grandfather and father to control the development of steam machines.
