It is the year 2074, and the PinWheel Robotics Corporation has created a female cyborg, Casella "Cash" Reese (Angelina Jolie), that is designed to detonate after entering chief competitor Kobayashi Electronics' headquarters. But problems develop in PinWheel's plan when Cash begins to have feelings for a human, Colson "Colt" Ricks (Elias Koteas). With the help of Mercy (Jack Palance), a presence on the computer screen, Cash and Colt try to escape the planned detonation of Cash.
