Manny the Mammoth (voice of Ray Romano) and his mate Ellie (voice of Queen Latifah) are expecting a baby, and Manny's life is changing with his approaching fatherhood. Manny's cohort, Diego the Saber-toothed Tiger (Denis Leary), is not thrilled with Manny's changing lifestyle. Meanwhile, Sid the Sloth (John Leguizamo) is jealous of Manny and steals dinosaur eggs so that he can have his own "babies." When the eggs hatch, the real mom retrieves them and hauls Sid and her babies into the underground dinosaur kingdom. Now, Manny and Diego set out to rescue their friend and encounter many dangers along the way.

Blu (voice of Jesse Eisenberg) is a domesticated macaw lovingly cared for by Linda (voice of Leslie Mann) and is living his life in Moose Lake, Minnesota. When Linda learns that a female macaw, Jewel (voice of Anne Hathaway), has been discovered in Rio de Janeiro, she takes Blu there hoping that the two rare birds will replenish the species. All goes well until animal smugglers capture Blu and Jewel. They do manage to escape, but Blu must now find the courage to learn to fly if they are going to find their freedom.
