In this adaptation of Emily Bronte's novel, Hareton Earnshaw (Matthew Macfadyen) brings home orphaned Heathcliff (Terry Clynes). While Hareton's son Hindley (Kevin Knapman) cannot stand him, daughter Cathy (Kadie Savage) forms a loving relationship with Heathcliff. They grow up, and Cathy (now played Orla Brady) marries wealthy neighbor Edgar Linton (Crispin Bonham-Carter). Heathcliff (now played by Robert Cavanah) has left but returns and buys Wuthering Heights from Hindley (now played by Ian Shaw). Cathy has second thoughts about her marriage choice, and realizes she has passed up love for what society condones. She becomes deathly ill, but even death cannot part Cathy and Heathcliff.
