In desperation, they search for weapons to kill the Tin Man, and through their struggles they find that their past sins play a big role in their efforts to survive.

When she refuses to reveal her source, U.S. District Court Judge Hall (Floyd Abrams) throws Rachel into jail for contempt of court, and her legal struggles begin as U.S. attorney Patton Dubois (Matt Dillon) pressures her to reveal her source. Rachel's attorney, Albert Burnside (Alan Alda), cites her First Amendment rights as he pleads her case. Meanwhile, Rachel spends one year in jail where she is beaten up by the inmates and is alienated from her husband Ray (David Schwimmer) but, through it all, maintains her integrity.
