Set in Harlem during the 1920s' Jazz Age, this film involves intertwining stories set in the midst of music, gangsters, murder, and romance. One of the stories involves Harlem's Cotton Club coronet player Dixie Dwyer (Richard Gere) who saves the life of gangster Dutch Schultz (James Remar), and Dutch returns the favor by inviting Dixie into his life. After going through an uneasy romance with Dutch's girlfriend Vera Cicero (Diane Lane), Dixie moves on to Hollywood and stars in gangster films. Lots of big names add to the fun. 1 User Review

Oedipus Rex 1967 N/R, 110 min. Genre: Foreign / Drama
Director: Pier Paolo Pasolini Cast: Franco Citti, Silvana Mangano, Alida Valli, Carmelo Bene, Julian Beck, Luciano Bartoli, Francesco Leonetti, Ahmed Bellashmi, Giandomenico Davoli, Ninetto Davoli
This version of Sophocles' classic Greek story of a man fated to kill his father and marry his mother is fraught with Freudian messages. Unfortunately, the result is too much psychology and not enough Greek mythology.

As if the Freeling family–father Steve (Craig T. Nelson), mother Diane (JoBeth Williams), daughter Carol Anne (Heather O'Rourke), and son Robbie (Oliver Robins)–had not suffered enough with their poltergeists in the first movie, they are back again. Following Grandma's death, the toy telephone rings, and who should be on the other end but the "other side." Now the family is visited by the evil spirit of cult leader Henry Kane (Julian Beck), and, once again, they contact psychic medium Tangina Barrons (Zelda Rubinstein) for help. As in the first film, the special effects are excellent.
