Dito Montiel's autobiographical story begins in the present when his suffering mother (Dianne Wiest) calls him to come home because his father (Chazz Palminteri) is dying. Now a successful L.A. writer, Dito returns home to Astoria, Queens, NY, where he grew up in the mid-1980s amidst violence and drugs and left for what he believed would be a better world outside. Dito faces those who influenced his life, and the story unfolds of how Dito believes he has been saved from their fate by his saints.
