Alan's visit results in a series of murder victims–including Walter and Renata. Finally, Alan uses his father's accounting books to give the police evidence of the extortion that led to the murders.

"Elaan of Troyius" (aired 12/20/1968, stardate 4372.5)-The crew of the Enterprise has its hands full as they are assigned to carry Petri, an ambassador from Troyius, and Elaan, the Dohlman of Elas, to Troyius for the wedding between Elaan and the leader of Troyius. Petri's task is to teach Elaan good manners and etiquette. Elaan is a tough case and doesn't care for Troyians–but it is time for the peoples of the two planets to stop warring and join forces against the Klingons, who are trying to take over the planetary system. Speaking of Klingons, they seem to be following the Enterprise. "The Paradise Syndrome" (aired 10/4/1968, stardate 4842.6)-An asteroid is heading toward a planet inhabited by a tribal culture, and the job of Enterprise is to divert it. A landing party is sent to check out the planet and warn the natives. Kirk gets left behind when he is lost after entering an obelisk–the Enterprise MUST get on with its task. But, the Enterprise can't destroy the asteroid, and heads back to the planet with the asteroid in hot pursuit. There must be a way, and Kirk, now the planet's medicine man, may be able to help.

Two episodes from the third season are presented in this DVD. "Plato's Stepchildren" (aired 11/22/1968, stardate 5784.0)-There's trouble on Platonius–the leader needs medical attention. A landing party from the Enterprise beams down to the planet and Dr. McCoy treats the king. When the team tries to beam back up, they are unable to do so. The Platonians have great powers and decide the Enterprise members should stay on as jesters for their entertainment. There must be SOME way to deal with this situation. "Wink of an Eye" (aired 11/29/1968, stardate 5710.5)-A call for help from the planet Scalos has Enterprise rushing to the scene. After crew members start disappearing–including Kirk–we find out that the Scalosians' lives move so rapidly that they are invisible to "normal" beings. This was caused by radiation released during a volcanic eruption and caused the men to be sterile to boot. The material is still in their drinking water, which crew members drank. So–the women on Scalos send out distress calls to lure men in order to propagate the race. Will Kirk be able to get his problem back to Spock and the others? So what if he does? Hmmmm.

With her ability to appear and disappear and prevent a rescue of the Enterprise, Kirk may have met his match. "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield" (aired 1/10/1969, stardate 5730.2)-The Enterprise runs across a damaged shuttlecraft that had been stolen from Starbase 4. The life form on board is rescued, and thus begins an adventure of racial and social differences between two factions of people on the planet Cheron. How does Kirk get mixed up in such matters?

They bring a new medication that, hopefully, will cure the inhabitants. A former starship commander greets them pretending to be the hospital director, but in reality he is one of the inmates. He is also able to change his shape in order to look like anyone, and he takes the landing party hostage in order to gain control of the Enterprise and, ultimately, the galaxy. Go, Kirk and Spock! "The Mark of Gideon" (aired 1/17/1969, stardate 5423.4)-While on a diplomatic mission to a planet, a beautiful woman appears on board the Enterprise just as a landing party is beaming down to the planet. Her presence causes a power surge that throws the ship hundreds of light years away. Meanwhile, the landing party on the planet finds that the planet is poisonous and that the woman can kill a person by merely touching him/her. It's going to be tough to get out of this mess.

It then attacks the Enterprise as a body of flashing, colored lights, which affects the crews' neural centers. When it enters the body of a crew member, who it calls "home," Kirk doesn't like that one bit and sets out to save the day. "The Cloud Minders" (aired 2/28/1969, stardate 5818.4)-The Enterprise arrives at planet Ardana to collect a shipment of zenite, an element mined there. They find that the miners who live on the planet are being exploited by the ruling class who live in a lavish city in the clouds. The miners are made physically sick by the mining operation. Well, Kirk, what are you going to do about this sorry state of affairs?
