  John Ried (Klinton Spilsbury) is the sole survivor of an ambush by Butch Cavendish (Christopher Lloyd) and his gang. John is rescued by his childhood friend Tonto (Michael Horse) and nursed back to health. John assumes the name of the Lone Ranger–after his Ranger brother who was killed in the ambush–and is determined to bring the Cavendish gang to justice. He dons his mask and riding his horse Silver sets out with Tonto to save President Ulysses S. Grant (Jason Robards) who the Cavendish gang has abducted.

  David Lightman (Matthew Broderick) taps into the Pentagon's computer system and almost (accidentally) starts World War III. Finally, it is David and his friend Jennifer (Ally Sheedy) who must stop the computer from commanding the launching of missiles.
