The world of Filipino-Americans is depicted through high-school student Ben Mercado (Dante Basco) who works in a comic bookstore and dreams of a future as a graphic artist. But his stern father, Roland (Tirso Cruz III), is determined that his son go to medical school and become a doctor. Matters come to a head during Ben's sister Rose's (Bernadette Balagtas) 18th birthday party.
