Smokey Banks (Michael Biehn), ex-bullriding rodeo champion, is sentenced to community service after a drunken brawl. He arrives at a ranch camp for orphans and meets Danny, a boy who is terminally ill but recognizes and admires Smokey. Danny wants Smokey to train him for an upcoming competition, and this changes both lives for the better.
