In this sequel to "Crank" (2006), hit man Chev (Jason Statham) has survived his plunge onto the street in Los Angeles and has been kidnapped by a Chinese gangster. The gangster has Chev's heart surgically removed and replaced with a mechanical one that needs regular jolts of electricity to keep working. Chev gets help from Doc Miles (Dwight Yoakam) and Venus (Efren Ramirez), and then, after reuniting with his girlfriend Eve (Amy Smart), Chev sets out to seek revenge against those who stole heart.

Dana Marschz (Steve Coogan) teaches drama at West Mesa High School in Tucson, Arizona, where his latest play has been panned by the school's ninth-grade drama critic. Now, the school is considering getting rid of the drama department, and Dana will lose his job. Meanwhile, things at home are not great either–Dana's unhappy wife Brie (Catherine Keener) and their boarder Gary (David Arquette) make his life difficult. In an effort to save the drama department, Dana comes up with an idea to put on a musical sequel to "Hamlet," and, almost immediately, complaints roll in from the citizens of Tucson and school officials about the play's contents. But, the show must go on.
