Manny DeSilva (Lou Diamond Phillips) is an autistic ex-con who, after being released from five years in prison, tries to start a new life as a night clerk at the Reno hotel, El Cortez. When Clay's girlfriend Theda (Tracy Middendorf) gets involved, secrets rise to the fore, and the result is a deadly game of murder.
