Their plane crashes, and the adults aboard are killed, which leaves English schoolboys marooned on an island. Ralph (James Aubrey) is elected "chief," and Jack (Tom Chapin) leads a group on a hunt for pigs to butcher for food. As the boys struggle to survive, they split into two groups with Jack representing savagery and Ralph representing civilization in a bitter battle for dominance and survival on the island.
