The diagnosis of "emotional problems" resulted in making the condition worse with her prescribed medications (including liquor). The troubled marriage, which included her being placed in a mental institution, had a great influence on T.S. Eliot's work and life. Miranda Richardson was nominated for a Best Actress Oscar and Rosemary Harris was nominated for Best Supporting Actress.
