  Set during the Vietnam War, this story examines the U.S. involvement in the war. Major Asa Barker (Burt Lancaster) questions the wisdom behind his assignment but leads his platoon of U.S. soldiers and a group of hardened Vietnamese mercenaries to an isolated outpost, which they must defend. When the Viet Cong forces attack and overrun the outpost killing everyone–including Barker–Barker's doubts are proved justified.

  Haunted by memories of her murdered fiance, Charlotte Hollis (Bette Davis) has only her housekeeper Velma (Agnes Moorehead) for company. When she learns that her decaying Southern mansion is slated for demolition, she calls her cousin Miriam (Olivia de Havilland) for help. Miriam arrives on the scene with the family doctor (Joseph Cotten) to help, but he causes even more problems, and now Charlotte fights for her sanity as her Southern lifestyle is about to disintegrate, and Miriam tries to drive her crazy. The film received seven Academy Award nominations, including Best Supporting Actress (Agnes Moorehead).

  The story takes place during the 1930s in the South where a Black man, Tom Robinson (Brock Peters), has been accused of raping a White woman. Wise lawyer Atticus Finch (Gregory Peck) defends him. Atticus is a widower with two children, 10-year-old Jem (Philip Alford) and six-year-old Scout (Mary Badham). As the trial progresses, Jem and Scout learn the realities of racial prejudice. They also learn about overcoming fears when their mysterious neighbor Boo Radley (Robert Duvall) comes to Scout's aid when she is attacked. This film marks Robert Duvall's movie debut. Gregory Peck won an Academy Award for Best Actor. In addition to two other Oscars, the film received five nominations, including Best Picture, Supporting Actress (Mary Badham), and Director.
