Meanwhile, Charlie travels by train with the circus to the next town trying to solve the crime before another murder is committed. J. Carrol Naish, who plays lion tamer Tom Holt in this film, will later take on the role of Charlie Chan in the 1950s' TV series.

The climatic conclusion involves a chase through the sewer system of Los Angeles. A good thriller.

But she did not die, and the butler (Clarence Muse) has kept her locked away until she recovers from her amnesia that resulted from the accident. She routinely gets out, and when she looks in the doctor's window, he is put in a trance and kills people he runs across. Cheap, but the good direction helps keep an eerie atmosphere.
