He takes a job with an accountant (Paul Scofield) but is fired after he is unable to perform his tasks. Even then, Bartleby shows up for work daily until he enters a hospital and it is learned that he suffers from several ailments. The accountant is at first happy to be rid of Bartleby but later suffers over Bartleby's death. Plodding.

When his father's ghost (Paul Schofield) appears, he tells Hamlet that it was Claudius who killed him and orders Hamlet to avenge his murder. Hamlet fakes madness to avoid suspicion, and the death toll rises. Victims include Claudius, Hamlet's friends and family, and even Hamlet. A very good remake of the Shakespeare classic.

She loses the baby, leaves the mansion, and finds work as a farmhand. She falls in love with Angel Clare (Oliver Milburn), and he returns her love. But, happiness is not fated to be in the future for Tess, and tragedy follows in this good made-for-TV retelling of the classic Thomas Hardy story.
