The moment for retaliation arrives when Tom is approached to kill a Russian gangster and convinces Jonathan to be the hit man instead. Multiple murders and mayhem ensue.

This is the story of that production and the attempts of Hearst to stop the release of the film, which shows him in a poor light. Some good performances in this HBO-produced film.

Schreck just happens to be a vampire, and Murnau has promised him the film's star, Greta Schroeder (Catherine McCormack) when the shoot is finished. Murnau begins to doubt the wisdom of his deal when crew members, one by one, disappear during the interim. Dafoe's great performance resulted in an Oscar nomination for Supporting Actor.
