Sherlock Holmes (Robert Stephens) and Dr. Watson (Colin Blakely) come to the aide of Madame Valladon (Genevieve Page) whose husband is missing. In spite of warnings from Sherlock's brother Mycroft (Christopher Lee), Sherlock and Dr. Watson head off to Scotland in search of the missing husband, and they become involved with evil monks, the Loch Ness monster, a family of midgets, and, finally, a top-secret government plan involving an experimental submarine.
