The submarine leaves San Francisco on Christmas Eve, and the voyage will prove harrowing as the crew sets out to fulfill its mission. This film was released during World War II, and, while propaganda is obvious, it is still an exciting story.

But, after Danny is injured in a fight, Pilon changes his tune and helps Danny and Dolores get together. Frank Morgan was nominated for an Oscar (Best Supporting Actor).
